Summary Brett Graham is often known for his flagship restaurant The Ledbury. However this humble gastropub of his in Fulham is definitely at the top of its league as well. Overall, rustic and comforting food; the outstanding dish has to be the Sunday roast, a must if you are planning a visit. The atmosphere was comfortable and the service was splendid. |
Jerusalem artichoke soup with poached egg, mushrooms on toast and hazelnuts
A warm and comforting dish, although the dish was slightly too bland.

Wood pigeon faggots with parsnip, pear and wild mushrooms
The texture was a bit too unusual for us.

Hereford snails with oxtail braised in stout and parsley
Unlike the usual escargots, this one has an addition of small oxtail pieces which adds an extra note of richness to it. Served with grilled cheese toast, a great combination.

The Harwood Arms Scotch Egg
We ordered an extra snack from the board, a classic pub dish that can possibly be used for gastropub quality calibration. The yolk is runny (ticked), outer curst nice and crisp (ticked) and the sausage meat is nicely cooked (although slightly pink on the inside). (£4.00)

Roast Rib Eye for two
Finally, our much awaited roast arrived, and it was definitely worth the wait. The rib eye, cooked perfectly, was accompanied by braised cheeks, packed with flavour. The roast potatoes were the best we've ever had, thick and crunchy exterior with a soft and fluffy centre. A great twist on the normal cauliflower and cheese here was the cauliflower and cheese croquette, cheesy and crunchy. Unlike the usual yorkshire puddings, this one is stuffed with caramelised onions and slow cooked beef, a great idea. Last but not least, the smoked bone marrow gravy was absolutely delicious, with some horseradish cream to cut through the richness. (£8.00 supplement per person)

Buttermilk pudding with camp coffee and brown sugar
After the roast, we were all filled up to the brim that we could only managed one dessert. The ice cream was sweet and nutty, and the cake was great. However, we felt that the the dish consisted of mostly cream and it would've been better if there were more of the ice cream or the cake.
