Summary This is a rather special review as I am not reviewing the restaurant, but the famous dessert bar at Pollen Street Social. Jason Atherton wanted an informal dessert bar where people can casually pop in without having to make any reservation in advance, so here we are after our meal at Barrafina. There are only 8 seats, so I would advise to get there before 7pm. At the bar, you have a choice of 5-6 desserts with coffee, tea and aperitifs. Overall, the desserts were exceptional and it was very enjoyable seeing the pastry chefs making your dishes in front of you. |
Amuse Bouche: Orange Sorbet, Cardamom foam, Ginger
We think it was very refreshing and light, with a bit of a kick from the ginger; a good start.

Chocolate marquise, praline, milk mousse, honey ice-cream
The chocolate was very rich, with crunchy praline discs and puffed rice resulting in a good texture in every bite.

Granny Smith apple parfait, blueberry, shiso & eucalyptus
Lemon thinks it was probably the best dessert she has ever had, even lighter and more refreshing than the amuse bouche. The jelly has a great fragrance to it which adds on to the vibrant green apple flavour.
